Quotas are a central component of the woke agenda to achieve social justice. Quotas are often not explicitly announced, as many people perceive them as unjust. Quotas are often implied as part of βdiversity and inclusionβ: any statistical underrepresentation is considered problematic (see Participation).367 Ergo, for more diversity and inclusion, marginalised groups must be favoured.
Through equality, not only privileged overrepresented parts of the population are impaired in their opportunities. Quotas also harm ideological independence, as quota systems almost always go hand in hand with loyalty tests: not all persons are equally affected by the regulations; primarily, anti-woke persons are to be disadvantaged (see Inclusion and Identity Politics).368 In many cases, increasing inefficiency puts institutional trust at risk, which can lead to crises of legitimacy.369
