For woke activists, antifascism is far more than combating militant right-wing extremism. Woke antifascists assume that “fascism” is anything that maintains oppression and inequality. This antifascist view directed against “fascism” also targets capitalism.
Anything that causes people to voluntarily accept their oppression is considered part of “fascism”. These antifascists fight against an allegedly neoliberal society in which people are moulded into market-compatible consumers.22
Liberal and conservative ideas about private property are regarded as fascistic: private property grants dominant groups privileged access to resources from which all others are excluded (see Privileges). Since the police secures the right to private property and the associated social order, it is seen as a particularly fascistic institution.
Woke antifascism fights for a new social order that promises the liberation of humanity (see Utopia). Anyone who stands in the way of antifascist activism may also be combated with repressive means (see Tolerance).23
